Successful NAMM Show for Schertler and ARTHUR Prime

The 2018 NAMM Show in Anaheim (USA) proved a resounding success for Schertler. With new products on display, enhanced by performances from live musicians, large numbers of visitors were drawn to the Schertler booth.
As well as providing a platform for US trade show debutants ROY and TEDDY (Schertler’s flagship 7-channel combo amp and new professional stage monitor), NAMM also marked the official launch of Schertler’s new Arthur Prime mixer series. These compact, fixed configuration mixers garnered much interest from musicians, audio professionals and press. Schertler Marketing Manager Drago Dujak sums up:
“We were very pleased with the amount of booth traffic and the interest shown in our latest products over the four days. Both our Arthur modular mixer and the new Prime proved popular with visitors from a range of market sectors, including house of worship and live concert sound. We had a lot of distribution interest, especially from the Far East. We also talked to a number of US retailers regarding potential dealerships. There was a lot of press interest too and we held some very successful meetings. A special ‘thank you’ to all the musicians who performed using our products. It was a great show all round.”

Seasons Greetings

Jay Terrien

Stat-V and viola perform for Jay Terrien

Schertler Ambassador Jay Terrien never leaves home without his Stat-V pickup. The professional viola player / musical director / arranger has worked with some of the world’s leading artists including Stevie Wonder, Moby, Rihanna, Megadeth, Milck (Connie Lim), Esperanza Spalding, Rancid, Josh Groben, Alien Ant Farm, Andy Grammer, Pat Mastelotto (King Crimson, XTC, The Sugarcubes) to name just a few.

Amid a busy schedule of live TV and concert performances, Jay explains why his instrument and pickup have now become inseparable.

“I use my Schertler Stat-V for my viola whenever I perform on a major late-night TV show or a big concert with a superstar artist. The live TV audio engineers at the Tonight Show with Jay Leno LOVED the sound of the pickup when I performed my string arrangements on the show with artists MOBY and ANDY GRAMMER. The strong tone of the pizzicato part during the ending of the song is crystal clearly heard in this video performance with Andy Grammer:  I never leave home without my Schertler Stat-V, it stays on my viola bridge at all times."

A perfectly tuned partnership : Claudio Pagelli guitars and Schertler tuners

Claudio Pagelli is one of the world’s most influential luthiers. His instruments are played by leading musicians and are also found in private collections. Over the years, Schertler tuners have become a vital component of Pagelli’s design and build process. Stephan Schertler and Claudio Pagelli comment on a unique “partnership”:

“Claudio Pagelli is one of the best known and most influential guitar builders and designers of the time. Every single one of his instruments has a different shape and appearance and is a unique musical and artistic object. Many of his guitars and basses are played by leading musicians….. and can also be found in private collections, together with some of the most important instruments ever built. I have known Claudio and his work for over 30 years. Whatever he builds is deluxe in tone and response and is underlined by a uniquely tasteful and elegant appearance.” Stephan Schertler.

“Our guitars are of a rather ‘striking’ variety (in a pleasing way) … This always makes it difficult to find suitable tuners. As well as looking attractive, the tuners’ technical functionality must be second to none. That is precisely why we have chosen Schertler. While there are other excellent tunes on the market, none integrate as effectively into our designs. Classical, elegant and mechanically sound: it’s no accident that these tuners can be found on many high end guitars. We have been proud to use Schertler tuners on our guitars since day 1 of their appearance.” Claudio Pagelli.

Blue4Green pick up more Schertler

The Blue4Green quartet recently added to their Schertler pickup collection. A performance in the Millenote Club, Arsizio, provided the group’s first opportunity to test newly acquired pickups for autoharp and guitar.

Blue4Green is described as a “new quarter experience”. The group performs its own compositions and “acoustic music with no borders, from Bluegrass to Irish, to Swing”, Its members are Schertler Ambassadors ANITA CAMARELLA – Vocal, Autoharp and DAVIDE FACCHINI – Guitar, Ukulele, Mandolin, along with PAOLO ERCOLI – Dobro, Mandolin, Vocal and RINO GARZIA – Double Bass.

Anita and Davide told us:

“The Millenote Club is an elegant venue and it was full of people waiting for the concert. A perfect moment and place to test Schertler Acoustics pickups for guitar and autoharp on stage for the first time.
Davide Facchini performed with the DYN-G-P48 on his guitar. Usually he likes to use a mic in front of the guitar but the DYN was perfect. No music stands for mics on stage, more room and no feedback problems. The sound was natural, dynamic, clear and warm.
The DYN-G-P48 reflects the acoustic sound of guitar very well with both flatpicking and fingerpicking styles. It’s easy to apply to the instrument and to find the right position on the top of guitar. Another good thing is that you can use it on different guitars any time you need!
Anita has the RESO-COIL-XM-BU with XLR connector on her autoharp. Finally she can play with the right sound and right volume, while singing effortlessly at the same time. The autoharp has a particular sound and it works great on slow and sweet songs. Last night we also used it on some fast bluegrass tunes. The sound in the mix was very balanced and it gave a new colour to the band.
Paolo Ercoli has used Schertler pickups on his dobro and mandolin for some years: a BASIK RESO on his three dobros and a RESO-COIL-JF on mandolin. They have always worked great.
We are really happy about this new collaboration with Schertler and can’t wait to play the next gig!”
