Rogersville, Tennessee bassist Mark Fain is a master musician with a comprehensive background in country, bluegrass and gospel. He’s toured and recorded with some of country music’s biggest names, from the Dixie Chicks, Alan Jackson, and Travis Tritt, to Dwight Yoakam, Allison Krauss and Dolly Parton.
Fain’s versatility (he’s also well versed in rock and jazz fusion), has made him a first choice session player for artists such as John Fogerty and Bruce Hornsby. In his teens, Fain played guitar for gospel groups and was a member of The Singing Americans, touring the States extensively. He later joined Dove Award-winning gospel group, Gold City, and was their bass player from 1989 to 1995.
As the full-time bassist/road manager for bluegrass legend Ricky Skaggs, you can hear Fain’s nimble fingers and homespun skill at work on the 2007 Grammy awarded album, Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder.
