Yorgos Nousis is an accomplished Greek-born guitar player, arranger, and composer. His repertoire encompasses classical composers as well as his own compositions, arrangements and imrovisations: a fusion of classical, flamenco and jazz elements influenced by the traditional Greek music. In the Classical Guitar Magazine Paul Fowles wrote “Yorgos Nousis is a multi-faceted master guitarist”.
As a composer he made music for film, pop and rock bands, various chamber ensembles, web series, exhibitions, and soundtracks for television commercials. Nousis’ works are published by the Doberman-Yppan editions in Canada (www.productionsdoz.com) and have been recorded and performed by musicians around the world.
Yorgos has distinguished himself at international composition and guitar performance competitions, earning top awards and praises. He is also a versatile ensemble artist and improvisor, having played in a variety of genres including rock, classical, and traditional Greek music. His versatility has allowed him to collaborate with performance artists in theater and dance troupes.
He studied at the Athens State Conservatory in Greece; Diploma in the class of Prof. Costas Cotsiolis and Mozarteum, Salzburg, Austria; Bachelor and Master of Arts. Class of Prof. Mathias Seidel/Marco Tamayo. He continued to develop his skills through guitar masterclasses and special instruction on jazz guitar style, flamenco guitar, compostition and music production.
